Newcastle United FC was founded 132 years ago in 1892, formed by the merger of Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End. The club's players wear a distinctive black and white striped shirt. Since its establishment 130 years ago, the team has won four league titles (in its old format) in the seasons of 1904, 1906, 1908, and 1926.

As for the FA Cup, they have won it six times in 1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952, and 1955.
On the European front, their first continental participation was in 1969, when they won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup against the Hungarian side Újpest FC, which was later renamed the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. They won the FA Charity Shield once in 1909 and the London Charity Cup once in 1907. Newcastle United also won the Intertoto Cup once in 2006. The Intertoto Cup was a summer football competition for European clubs that did not qualify for other major competitions. It was held annually under the auspices of UEFA, but it was canceled in 2008.

Saudi Public Investment Fund's acquisition of Newcastle United
On October 7, 2021, the Saudi Public Investment Fund announced the completion of its 100 percent acquisition of Newcastle United FC. The investment group led by the Saudi Public Investment Fund included PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media. Yasir Bin Uthman al-Rumayyan, the Governor of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, was appointed as the non-executive Chairman of Newcastle United's Board of Directors.
