It was established during the reign of King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1982. It is situated in al-Rakah Neighborhood in Khobar within the Eastern Province, specifically on King Faisal Road. The total area of Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Sport City is around 112,000 m. Its stadium is made of natural grass, and includes a running track surrounded by partially covered seats, as well as completely uncovered seats.

The city includes many facilities and establishments, including the main stadium, the indoor sports gyms and their facilities, a swimming pool building and its facilities, the squash building, the administration building, a VIP lounge, first class and VIP seats, second class seats, a royal box and its facilities, outdoor fields, and outdoor parking area and yards. The stadium is usually used for football matches that are normally held in the evening, official celebrations, and other events.
Developing Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Sport City's stadium
Prince Saud Bin Jalawi Sport City Stadium was added to ten target stadiums for development, as announced by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation on February 1, 2023, with the aim of hosting the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. The capacity of the stadium will increase to about twenty-five thousand seats.
