The Attaa Digital Initiative is a non-profit specialized initiative launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2018. It aims to spread digital awareness in the community, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to achieve digital transformation. The initiative collaborates with partners from various government sectors and local and international private entities.

In 2021, the initiative had around 250,000 members, and its 1,900 programs benefited approximately eighteen million people in the tech field.

Attaa Digital Initiative objectives

The Attaa Digital Initiative aims to enhance the digital capabilities of community members through a culture of giving in technology. This is achieved by providing contributions to train and educate the community with digital content and technical knowledge, supporting the non-profit sector in developing technical skills, and accelerating digital transformation in its programs and activities.

The initiative also motivates tech experts to spread digital knowledge to everyone and highlights outstanding technical role models and examples. Additionally, it aims to enhance purposeful collaboration to serve the community and build a database of software technologies.

Work mechanism of the Attaa Digital Initiative

The Attaa Digital Initiative allows all community members to participate by registering on the electronic platform 'Attaa Community.' In collaboration with specialists and tech experts, it offers training opportunities to beneficiaries through in-person and virtual programs, meetings, and workshops. The initiative's electronic platform also includes a digital content library with educational and awareness publications and videos, using various advanced media and technical tools. Additionally, it addresses technical inquiries to reach a broader range of beneficiaries.

Attaa Digital Initiative programs

The Attaa Digital Initiative offers a range of programs, including 'Kulana Attaa,' a volunteer initiative launched in March 2020 in partnership with government and charitable organizations. It aimed to support the educational process during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing technical equipment to beneficiaries from low-income families and the children of martyrs in the Kingdom. Approximately 113,000 beneficiaries have benefited from this program.

The initiative, in partnership with several Saudi universities, organizes the 'Your Digital Path' program to provide technical mentors for those interested and specialized in the tech field at Saudi universities. It also offers guidance and educational publications on the initiative's electronic platform.

The Attaa Digital Initiative also launched the awareness platform "CyberX" to educate the community about cybersecurity and evolving online threats and challenges. It provides programs that help individuals and organizations create a secure cyber environment. Additionally, it features interviews with cybersecurity experts through the 'CyberX Podcast.'

Awards received by the Attaa Digital Initiative

The Attaa Digital Initiative won first place in the '2020 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prize' awarded by the International Telecommunication Union in the category of Cultural and Linguistic Diversity and Local Content. The initiative enriched Arabic technical content and promoted digital culture in Arab communities through training courses in various digital fields at numerous centers, as well as through the Attaa Digital platform and various innovative tools and methods.
