Yes, Wa'ad al-Shamal is an industrial city and an integrated investment environment located thirty km west of the city of Turayf. On November 22, 2018, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, inaugurated the first phase of its project system and laid the foundation stone for the second phase projects.
The city represents a significant addition to the projects of Saudi Vision 2030. The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones 'MODON' is developing it to become a hub for the mining sector.
Estimates indicate that Wa'ad al-Shamal will lead to a 3 percent increase in the gross domestic product from non-oil sectors, equivalent to SAR24 billion annually.
Wa'ad al-Shamal extends over an area of 440 km and is planned to become the nucleus for mega projects that will contribute to driving economic and industrial growth in the remote northern region of the Kingdom. This will be achieved by developing new businesses in the mining and metals sector and establishing value-added refining and processing industries, such as glass and plastic manufacturing.
