Modern Agricultural Irrigation Projects

Modern Agricultural Irrigation Projects are projects that employ advanced technological methods in various agricultural and environmental projects, public and private gardens, and sports fields across the Kingdom. These projects utilize high-quality irrigation techniques that help save significant amounts of water, exceeding (30 to 60 percent). The Modern agricultural irrigation projects were launched as one of the programs of the Saudi Irrigation Organization in collaboration with the Green Studies Office.

The techniques and methods of modern agricultural irrigation projects rely on the automated irrigation scheduling system (Smart Irrigation). This method uses moisture sensors to detect soil moisture and determine its water needs based on its moisture content. The system can also identify the seasonal irrigation needs of crops and select appropriate irrigation methods, water quantity, and quality. It studies the nature of the soil and its physical and biological properties for each agricultural project to save water and enhance soil fertility.

In modern agricultural irrigation projects, programmed sprinkler and drip irrigation systems for greenhouses, self-irrigation and mobile irrigation equipment, comprehensive irrigation and fertilization control programs, specialized units for treating well water and irrigation water according to the project's needs, and solar-powered irrigation equipment are used.
