Bahrah Governorate is a governorate in Makkah al-Mukarramah Province, west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the sixth largest population in Makkah al-Mukarramah Province with 94,603 people living in an area of 4,756.21 km.

Four centers are administratively affiliated with Bahrah Governorate. They are Umm al-Rakah, Shoaiba, Difaq, and al-Baydaa. Its most prominent landmarks are al-Baydaa Center, several factories, Shoaiba Desalination Plant. It also has a water treatment plant with a capacity of five hundred m per day to serve development housing.

Location of Bahrah Governorate

Bahrah Governorate is located west of Makkah al-Mukarramah region, and the city of Makkah al-Mukarramah is the headquarters of the emirate. It is bordered from the south by al-Lith Governorate, from the north by Jeddah Governorate, from the east by Makkah al-Mukarramah and the governorates of al-Jumum and Taif, and from the west by Jeddah Governorate and the Red Sea.

The governorate is located approximately thirty-four km east of Jeddah, and it is about fifty-eight km away from Makkah al-Mukarramah.

Transport services in Bahrah Governorate

Bahrah Governorate benefits from a range of transportation services, including air travel via King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, located fifty-one km away and considered the nearest airport to the governorate. It is an international airport with a capacity of up to seven million passengers per year.

Highway forty starts from Bahrah Governorate and ends in the city of Dammam in the Eastern Province. It is considered the main land access route to and from Bahrah.
