Saudi Falcons Club (SFC) is a government club in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is dedicated to the welfare and activities surrounding falcons, with a particular focus on the art of falconry. Falconry stands as a prominent avian hunting tradition within the Kingdom, alongside cherished Arab pastimes like horseback riding and camel breeding

SFC establishment

Established in 2017, SFC is the first governmental entity to accord official attention to falcons. It is keen on recognizing falconry as a legal field sport and a human heritage on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In 2010, falconry was inscribed on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List. SFC is supervised by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, while Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Nayef serves as the chairman of its board of directors. As part of its wildlife preservation program, SFC protects falcons and supports efforts to preserve their reproduction and appreciate their value in nature.

SFC logo

The SFC logo is adorned with a one-dimensional peregrine falcon, an iconic bird of prey in Arabian Peninsula culture overall and the Kingdom in particular. The logo also features SFC's official name in both English and Arabic.

SFC role

To preserve the falconry tradition, SFC organized the King Abdulaziz International Falconry Festival for the first time in Riyadh in 2019. The festival has included falcon auctions since 2020, which is the first auction of its kind in the Kingdom to organize an official platform for selling falcons. This takes place in a hall built on an area of 2,000 m on the grounds of the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival in Malham, affiliated with Huraymila Governorate located north of Riyadh. During the first three operational days of the auction, falcon sales exceeded SAR900,000. Approximately 17,000 falcons were owned, and the count of falconers reached 20,000 individuals.

SFC participations

SFC participates in international days dedicated to birds of prey, such as World Migratory Bird Day on the second Saturday of both May and October of every year, under the slogan Birds Connect Our World. This is done through annual awareness campaigns aimed at promoting the importance of preserving migratory birds, elucidating the environmental threats they face, and making the greatest effort to achieve an ecological equilibrium conducive to them.

Purchase mechanism on SFC platform

SFC has streamlined the purchase mechanism on its platform, following a series of steps that commence with ensuring a medical examination is completed at one of the approved hospitals. Next, users visit SFC's main website to register and provide the necessary information. Afterward, they can proceed to the store, select their desired product, confirm its availability, proceed to the payment stage, print the invoice, and specify the pickup location.
