Saudi Arabian Extreme Sports Federation is a sports authority established in 2020 to oversee and develop extreme sports activities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also trains athletes to represent the Kingdom internationally in sports, e.g., board skiing, skydiving, Wingsuit flying, indoor skydiving, roll ball, and roller skating.
The federation works on intensifying programs, enhancing competitiveness, and increasing participation rates in sports activities. It also strives to establish appropriate partnerships to provide the necessary facilities for practicing the federation's sports.
Skydiving camps
Saudi Arabian Extreme Sports Federation launched its skydiving camp for the first time in Riyadh on October 20, 2020. It lasted for five days, with the participation of twenty-six skydivers in collaboration with the aviation of the Ministry of the National Guard using the Black Hawk helicopter.
The second skydiving camp was organized at al-Mandassah Airport in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah from March 23, 2021, to March 28, 2021. It was a collaboration between the Saudi Arabian Extreme Sports Federation, the Ministry of the National Guard, the Emirate of Madinah Province, and the Saudi Aviation Club. Thirty-eight skydivers participated in the camp.
Furthermore, a third skydiving camp was organized in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Jeddah, on the Red Sea coast, from September 17, 2021, to September 25, 2021. Fifty-one skydivers participated in the camp and recorded about 432 jumps. During the camp, eighteen jumpers were granted licenses from the United States Parachute Association, and it witnessed the graduation of the first Saudi skydiving team.
Skating camp
In 2022, the Saudi Arabian Extreme Sports Federation organized a skating camp to establish the Saudi national team in skateboard sports and aggressive skating by attracting local talent and investing in it to represent Saudi Arabia in international sports events. This opportunity was provided to all those interested in joining the Saudi team, both men and women above eight years old, whether at an advanced or intermediate level. After their registration, candidates are selected based on the criteria set by the Saudi Arabian Extreme Sports Federation.
Saudi Arabian Extreme Sports Federation championships
The Federation organized the first roll ball championship at Dar al-Thikr private schools in Jeddah. Four teams of men and two teams of women competed for the tournament prize, with eighty-seven male and female players.
The Federation also organized a championship at the Skate Park in Diriyah Sports Club, bringing together thirty-eight players to compete in skateboard and aggressive inline skating. The prizes were divided into four categories: skateboard advanced, aggressive skating advanced, skateboard intermediate, and aggressive skating intermediate.
During the years 2022 and 2023, the federation organized several championships for alpine skiing and speed skating, which are competitive individual sports. Additionally, the federation participated in the first edition of the Saudi Games 2022 in the sport of skateboarding and will also be participating in the second edition of the Saudi Games in the same sport.
