The Saudi Sports for All Federation is one of the sports federations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established in 1992 under the name Saudi Arabian Federation for Physical Education and Sports. It is the entity responsible for increasing physical activity in society and is overseen by the Ministry of Sport. It is also responsible for implementing community sports initiatives to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Establishment of the Saudi Sports for All Federation
The Saudi Sports Federation for All was established in 1992 under the name of the Saudi Arab Federation for Physical Education and Sports. Then, a decision was issued by His Royal Highness Prince Nawaf Bin Faisal Bin Fahd, the General President of Youth Welfare and the President of the Saudi Olympic Committee, in 2013, to merge the 'Saudi Arab Federation for Physical Education and Sports' and the 'Saudi Sports Federation for All' into one federation named the Saudi Federation for Physical Education and Sports for All.
In 2017, a decision was issued by His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah Bin Musa'ad Bin Abdulaziz, the President of the General Sports Authority and the President of the Olympic Committee, to change the name of the federation to the Saudi Federation for Community Sports.
In 2019, a decision was issued by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki al-Faisal, the Minister of Sport and the President of the Saudi Olympic Committee, to change the name of the federation to the Saudi Sports Federation for All, under the presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Bin Alwaleed Bin Talal, with its headquarters in the capital, Riyadh.
Tasks of Saudi Sports for All Federation
The Saudi Sports Federation for All works on implementing several tasks, including: increasing the percentage of physical activity among the population of the Kingdom (citizens and residents) to 40 percent by 2030, supporting sports partnerships with various entities to increase community participation in physical activity, promoting sports through programs, events, and competitions, utilizing facilities to support physical activity, representing the Kingdom in various activities and events, and working towards achieving regional, Asian, and international accomplishments.
Saudi Sports for All Federation community activities
The Saudi Sports Federation for All offers a variety of community activities, including the Riyadh Marathon, educational and recreational clubs in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in various regions of the Kingdom for boys and girls, the National Cricket Championship in collaboration with the Saudi Cricket Federation, as well as launching awareness campaigns tailored to specific social groups and strategic directions, such as the "Move Your World" campaign.
The Saudi Sports for All Federation achieved 171 votes out of 201 member states to host the World Sports for All Games Championship in 2028 in the city of Riyadh, for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa, in cooperation with the Association for International Sports for All (TAFISA).
Responsibility of Saudi Sports for All Federation
Saudi Sports for All Federation is a sports authority with a legal personality. Its budget consists of state-provided support funds, donations, grants, and members' annual membership and subscription fees.
