Al-Mishraq Area
Al-Mishraq Area is a community space for living, business, and entertainment. It is located within the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City in Riyadh City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its establishment was announced on July 26, 2022, to serve as a vibrant hub connecting the city’s various components and facilities, spanning an area of 680,000 m².
Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City, which hosts Al-Mishraq Area, is the first nonprofit city in the world. It extends over an area of 3.4 km² and was built to serve as a global model for nonprofit sector development and as a host for youth groups, volunteer organizations, and local and international nonprofit institutions.
Objectives of developing Al-Mishraq Area
The development of Al-Mishraq Area aligns with the objectives of developing Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City by embodying the concept of smart technology and sustainability. The area offers numerous options for exploring new technologies and products, and its visitors enjoy distinctive interactive experiences.
It also aims to support creative energies and encourages individuals to innovate and communicate. The area attracts global partnerships and promotes mutual collaboration in the fields of products and services, human resource development, and the empowerment of national talents, in a way that contributes to the development of the knowledge economy.
Phase one of Al-Mishraq Area development
The first phase of construction in Al-Mishraq Area includes the development of 105,000 m² of retail, residential, office, and business incubator spaces, so that "Al-Mishraq" will be the second largest area and the main artery of the city, serving as a diverse hub that connects Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City with residential areas, public facilities, and flexible workplaces.
Design of Al-Mishraq Area and its facilities
The development of Al-Mishraq Area is being undertaken by the specialized architectural firm "CallisonRTKL." It was designed according to the Salmani architectural style, which was selected to highlight the Saudi local heritage. The area includes a central axis and a pedestrian path equipped with environmentally safe shading and cooling technologies, in addition to wind-powered cooling generators to temper the atmosphere.
Al-Mishraq Area features a number of diverse facilities, including an organic food store, cafés, and international restaurants. The area also includes institutes and art plazas and offers a variety of entertainment options. It hosts the new destination for “Muvi Cinemas” in the central zone of Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City, comprising eight screening halls: a Dolby Cinema hall with a capacity of five hundred seats, a VIP “Suites” hall with a capacity of one hundred seats, and a “Boutique” hall with a capacity of three hundred seats. The destination also includes plazas for hosting events and celebrations and provides a range of wellness and relaxation services, in addition to other activities that enhance quality of life.
Manga Company in Al-Mishraq Area
Al-Mishraq Area is home to the headquarters of "Manga Productions," a company that produces animation, comic books, and video games. It is a subsidiary of the Mohammed Bin Salman (Misk) Foundation.
