Who are the Companions?

The Companions are employees of the Royal Court, lower in rank than the Royal Guard. They are always seen around kings and princes, and are characterized by devotion, loyalty, and self-sacrifice. They carry out service and security duties for the King.

In the era of the Founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, the Companions were divided into fifteen groups, taking turns around the clock in the palace under the “al-Khabar” system, and in 1965, the Companions joined the Ministry of Interior.   

Companions refers to a friend who rises to the standing of a brother. It is a traditional cultural heritage in the Arabian Peninsula that the kings and princes of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continue to preserve.
