Haql Castle was built in 1940, during the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is located in Haql Governorate in Tabuk Province, northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is one of the military forts that the Founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud ordered to be constructed to serve as a center of security and a headquarters for administering citizens’ affairs in the area.

It is a limestone-built castle with an area of nine hundred m². It became the nucleus of urban transformation and population growth in the city: After having been a military castle in a remote area with tasks limited to security and protection, it later turned into a complex for government sectors, around which civil institutions developed, along with the residential area now known as the Old Town in Haql.

Today, it is among the most important archaeological landmarks in Tabuk Province. In 2013, the Ministry of Tourism completely restored it as part of a plan to develop the antiquities sector in Saudi Arabia, and then opened it to visitors as a historical exhibition of the architectural heritage in Tabuk Province.
