Guava cultivation is centered in Jazan Province, southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, an area renowned for its tropical fruit production. In 2022, the province had around 10,366 guava trees, yielding approximately 310 t of fruit annually.

The guava tree is notable for its evergreen leaves with distinct veins arranged in opposite pairs along the branches. Young leaves emerge with a reddish tint that helps shield them from intense sunlight. As the tree matures, its outer bark peels away to reveal a light gray inner layer. Guava trees are unique in that they produce flowers and fruits at the same time.

In Saudi Arabia, guava fruits generally ripen during the fall and early winter. They are commonly consumed fresh or processed into juice and jam. While the fruit's flesh typically contains numerous seeds, certain varieties are seedless.
