What Is the Production Capacity of Jazan Refinery?
The production capacity of Jazan Refinery is four hundred thousand bbl per day. This full-conversion refinery was designed to produce a wide range of products, including gasoline, ultra-low sulfur diesel, benzene, and paraxylene. It also supplies feedstock to the power plant, which operates using gasification and integrated combined cycle (IGCC) technologies to generate electricity and industrial gases.
Jazan Refinery is part of the Jazan Industrial Complex, which comprises three main components: the refinery and power generation complex, Jazan City for Primary and Downstream Industries, and the port. The project is considered one of the world’s largest industrial complexes in terms of size, advanced technology, production capacity, and environmental standards, particularly in product specifications and contributions to emission reduction.
The power plant produces 3.8 GW to meet the refinery’s energy demands and support expanding local industries, in addition to supplying electricity to millions of homes in the province.
The refinery also houses the world’s largest integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) facility, enabling it to operate economically. Additionally, the air separation unit (ASU) supplies the refinery and IGCC facility with 75,000 t per day (twenty thousand t of oxygen and 55,000 t of nitrogen) for a period of twenty years.
