In 2022, the Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, implemented a project for license plates featuring slogans with distinctive designs that carry national and cultural significance. The new license plates included five main slogans: Saudi Vision 2030 logo; two swords and palm tree (in both colored and black versions); a logo inspired by the historic Al-Turaif District in Diriyah; and a logo inspired by Hegra in AlUla Governorate. The Absher e-platform provided the service for issuing these license plates.
Digital Wallet for Vehicles License Plates in Saudi Arabia
In 2024, the Public Security launched the digital wallet for license plates service through the Ministry of Interior's electronic platform, Absher. The service allows winners of the electronic auction to view the ownership document of license plates in the digital wallet, with the owner retaining rights to the plate until it is registered on a vehicle. Benefits of the service include managing all plate-related services, allowing the owner to maintain ownership without registering the plate on any vehicle, all within a reliable digital solution that facilitates management through the digital wallet system.

The General Department of Traffic conducts auctions for distinctive license plates electronically through the Absher platform. This includes the registration of license plates with unique numbers and letters for private vehicles, private transportation, and motorcycles.
