Unaizah Chamber
Unaizah Chamber is one of twenty-six Chambers of Commerce in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a member of the Federation of Saudi Chambers. It is headquartered in Unaizah City.
Unaizah has long been known for its commercial activity. In fact, documents indicate its commercial importance. Hurshid Pasha (1829) mentioned that it is a large commercial center to which merchants from Baghdad and the Levant differ. The traveler Philippe (1918) estimated the number of shops in Unaizah to be no less than a thousand shops, which was a large number at that time. In the nineteenth century, the traveler Lorimer mentions that supplies of all kinds are plentiful in the market of Unaizah, noting that there are many small goods, clothes, and medical products, including British ones. The main market was said to encompass 120 shops. The region's history contributes to fostering the role of the Unaizah Chamber in promoting the commercial movement and its endeavors toward its enhancement.
Tasks of Unaizah Chamber
The chamber aims to develop various business activities in the commercial sectors, to represent these activities at ministries, bodies, and public institutions, and to protect and develop them. It is one of the three Chambers of Commerce in Qassim Province, in addition to Ar-Rass Chamber and Qassim Chamber.
Establishment of Unaizah Chamber
Unaizah Chamber was established on March 19, 2007, by virtue of the Minister of Commerce Resolution. It is a legal personality with financial and administrative independence. It is supervised by the Ministry of Commerce. It consists of a general assembly, a board of directors, and a general secretariat.
Objectives of Unaizah Chamber
The chamber aims at creating a motivating environment for investment and commercial activities by providing distinguished and advanced services to its members. It was established based on a request by the businessmen of the region to support the economic movement therein.
