Shabab Al-Bomb Series
Shabab Al-Bomb is a Saudi social comedy series that began airing in 2012 and ran for thirteen seasons. Its content targets the emerging youth demographic and stars Saudi actor Faisal Al-Essa as Amer, who plays a central role around whom all events revolve. Each episode presents a different theme, constituting an independent dramatic unit that addresses a specific issue or message. A movie of the same name was also produced in 2024.
Idea
Shabab Al-Bomb focuses on Saudi youth issues through satirical comedy, addressing family relationships, the impact of social media, class differences, sports fanaticism, and addiction, as seen through the daily lives of a group of friends: Amer, Shokosh, Kufta, Turki, Saleh, Yasser, and Abdulaziz.
The series is a local drama experiment that combines entertainment, social criticism, and awareness messages in a simple, relatable style. It relies on colloquial dialect and introduces vocabulary commonly used by the younger generation in their dialogues.
The series depicts stereotypical characters, each representing a specific segment or pattern in society. For example, Amer is a good young man who values family and friends but is frequently confronted with situations or issues he cannot resolve on his own, with his friends standing by him. These characters remain consistent across all seasons in terms of accent, clothing, and style, differing only in their reactions to events.
Beginnings
Shabab Al-Bomb originated from an idea by actor Faisal Al-Essa, following his 2011 Saudi TV program “Youth Chat”, through which he learned about youth issues and concerns. This inspired him to create a series specifically for this audience, featuring stories that reflect their reality, express their experiences, and address their social challenges. Al-Essa produced the first pilot episode, submitted it to Saudi TV, received approval, and began full production the following year.
The first part of the series aired on Al-Saudiya Channel, while the second and third parts were broadcast on the Saudi Sports Channel. It returned to Al-Saudiya for the fourth part, and from the fifth part onward, the series aired on Rotana Khalijiah channel, continuing there through the thirteenth season in 2025.
