Articles published in the Saudi Medical Journal

Articles published in the Saudi Medical Journal are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial (CC BY-NC) license. All submitted articles are initially reviewed by the editors. The rejected articles are articles that are overly specialized and fall outside the scope of the journal, those older than five years, or those lacking originality and failing to contribute new information are subject to rejection. Each article is peer-reviewed by three external reviewers. The Saudi Medical Journal follows a double-blind peer review process, in which submitted articles are coded without including the authors’ names before being forwarded to reviewers. This ensures appropriate methodology, scientific quality, impartiality, and objectivity.

After the review and re-evaluation of the articles are completed and they are conditionally approved, they are forwarded for proofreading before publication. The author is then contacted to make the necessary revisions recommended by the reviewers.
