Reem Al-Tuwairqi
Reem Mohammed Al-Tuwairqi, (born 1971), is a Saudi scientist in the field of physics. She holds the position of professor of laser physics and spectroscopy at King Abdulaziz University in the city of Jeddah. She received the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation, in its sixth edition, for her translation of the book "How Things Work: The Physics of Everyday Life".
Her education
Reem Al-Tuwairqi obtained a PhD in physics from Swansea University, Wales, in the United Kingdom.
Her professional career
During her career, Reem Al-Tuwairqi held a number of academic positions at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, including: Vice-Dean of the Deanship of Female Students' Affairs for Activities from 2003–2007, Vice-Dean of the female campus for development, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Science, then Professor of laser physics and spectroscopy, and she was also appointed as an academic advisor to the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity in the International Physics Olympiad programme.
Her publications
Reem Al-Tuwairqi has presented a number of research works and translated and published works from English into Arabic, including: translating the book "How Things Work: The Physics of Everyday Life". She has also published around nineteen scientific papers in scientific and international journals.
Her awards
Reem Al-Tuwairqi received an award from the French state in the field of physics. She also received the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation in its sixth edition, dedicated to translation in the natural sciences from other languages into Arabic, for her translation of the book "How Things Work: The Physics of Everyday Life" by the author Louis Bloomfield, a book that includes topics related to physics.
