Northern Borders Literary Club
The Northern Borders Literary Club is a cultural and literary institution that promotes literature, culture, and the activation of the cultural movement in the Northern Borders Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was announced in 2007 to support and encourage the talents of young people from the province, nurture them, and provide guidance in various literary and cultural fields. The club is overseen by the Ministry of Culture.
Launch of the Northern Borders Literary Club
The Northern Borders Literary Club officially began operations in 2008 with the formation of its first board of directors, which included several members. In 2011, a new board was elected and formed, with new members joining while retaining some previous ones.
The club building consists of two floors and includes two libraries, training halls, two galleries, administrative offices, a main theater with two levels accommodating over 340 people, and smart training halls.
Activities of the Northern Borders Literary Club
The Northern Borders Literary Club offers a wide range of literary and cultural activities, including publishing books and literary works that benefit the club, actively participating in national and international events, and organizing lectures for writers from within and outside the Northern Borders Province. The club also plans and hosts various cultural events announced in advance, covering short stories, poetry, novels, and research.
Among its activities, the club organizes several cultural competitions, such as poetry contests, recitation competitions for boys and girls from the province, and national competitions related to the National Day.
Zubaidah Trail Cultural Forum
The Zubaidah Trail Cultural Forum, first held in 2011, is one of the key literary and cultural gatherings organized and planned by the Northern Borders Literary Club, and many intellectuals, writers, and historians participated in it. As part of its cultural activities, the club hosted a group of students on scholarships abroad, and those who had previous scholarship experiences, to share their insights during a cultural evening addressing several key themes.
Publications of the Northern Borders Literary Club
According to the Report on the State of Culture 2021 issued by the Ministry of Culture, the Northern Borders Literary Club ranked first among Saudi literary clubs in the number of lectures and seminars, with forty-eight in-person and virtual events attended by more than 6,500 participants. The club ranked second in terms of publications, with twenty-three titles, and had published a total of 120 books, ten issues of the bulletin "Shamaliyah," four issues of the magazine "Al-Adat," and around six hundred various cultural activities.
