MBC Group is a Saudi media group that offers a range of television channels, media and entertainment services, and program and series production.
Establishment of MBC Group
MBC Group was established in London in 1991 as an independent satellite channel called MBC1. About a decade later, in 2002, the group moved its headquarters to Dubai Media City in the United Arab Emirates. In September 2022, it opened its new main headquarters in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Entities of MBC Group
MBC Group encompasses various departments and entities covering television and radio broadcasting sectors and formats. These include MBC Studios, the Group’s production arm, known for its high-quality productions and global partnerships. It works to transform local stories from the Middle East into international productions. The Group also includes 'MBC Academy,' which was launched in 2020 to guide, educate, and nurture emerging talent through its educational and training programs. The academy focuses on identifying, training, and qualifying Saudi talents in media and production.
Channels of MBC Group
The Group operates thirteen free-to-air television channels and three radio stations under its umbrella, including the flagship channel MBC1, as well as MBC2, MBC3, MBC4, MBC5, MBC MASR, MBC IRAQ, and MBC LOUD FM. It also operates the digital video-on-demand platform 'Shahid,' which offers products such as 'Shahid Premieres' and 'Shahid Originals.'
