Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments
The Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments is a national Saudi initiative launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development to honor outstanding private sector establishments across various tracks. It aims to motivate them to increase localization rates and improve the work environment by encouraging the workforce and implementing ideal workplace standards.
Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments 2020
In its first edition in 2020, around two thousand companies and fifty thousand employees participated in the Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments. A total of eighteen awards were presented to companies that met the requirements and standards of quality and excellence in the two tracks of localization and outstanding work environment.
Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments 2022
In its second edition in 2022, more than ten thousand establishments competed for the Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments across twenty-four awards in three main tracks: the Localization Track, the Work Environment Track, and the Skills and Training Track. Around two hundred thousand employees participated in the survey to nominate establishments that met the award’s conditions and criteria.
Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments 2023
The third edition of the Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments was launched in 2023, with around eighty-eight thousand establishments competing for twenty-seven awards across four main tracks: the Localization Track, the Work Environment Track, the Skills and Training Track, and a newly introduced Chief Executive Officer Track.
Tracks of the Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments
The Labor Award for Private Sector Establishments includes four tracks:
- Localization Track: This track encourages the private sector to raise the percentage of localization, in addition to recognizing innovative work models that attract national talent. Various sectors compete for the Localization Award, including the communications and information technology sector, the real estate and contracting sector, the education sector, the finance and insurance sector, the health sector, and the industry, energy, and mining sector.
The Localization Award is subject to specific criteria, including the percentage of Saudis employed at the establishment (accounting for 70 percent of the criteria weight), the proportion of Saudi leadership, the sustainability of Saudi employment at the establishment, and the quality of Localization (accounting for 30 percent of the criteria weight), based on responses from 20 percent of the establishment’s employees to the survey.
- Work Environment Track: This track contributes to raising awareness among establishments and motivating them to comply with work environment standards. It offers the following awards: the Outstanding Work Environment Award, the Inclusive Work Environment Award for Persons with Disabilities, the Occupational Safety and Health Pioneers Award, and the Ideal Accommodation Award.
The Outstanding Work Environment Award is based on responses from 20 percent of the establishment’s employees to the survey, along with verification of compliance with outstanding work environment standards. As for the Inclusive Work Environment Award for Persons with Disabilities, its criteria include a disability-friendly environment and field visits. The Occupational Safety and Health Pioneers Award is evaluated based on the submission of sixteen files related to occupational safety and health systems and standards, as well as field visits. The criteria for the Ideal Accommodation Award include having a valid accommodation license, disclosure of worker housing on the Collective Housing Platform, and field visits.
- Skills and Training Track: This track encourages establishments to develop and enhance national talent, increase employee retention rates, and promote career advancement. It offers the following awards: the Best On-the-Job Training Program Award and the Best Training Program for Students and Graduates Award.
The criteria for the Best On-the-Job Training Program Award are based on the establishment’s training policy and the implementation of that policy. The Best Training Program for Students and Graduates Award is evaluated based on the quality of the training programs.
-Chief Executive Officer Track: This track aims to honor and motivate CEOs for their contributions in creating innovative work models and achieving successes that have enhanced labor market performance indicators. The CEO Award is subject to specific criteria, including the National Competencies Criterion and the General Performance of the Establishment Criterion. The award categories include: one award for large establishments, one for medium establishments, and one for small establishments.
