The Information Security Association (Hemaya), a Saudi civil society organization, is the first specialized association in the field of information security in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that is officially registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, under registration number 1162. It is headquartered in Riyadh City and contributes to enriching Arabic content by raising awareness and promoting a culture of information security.

Strategy

In October 2020, the Information Security Association announced its new strategy to guide its future steps in the field of information security and launched its new visual identity, aligned with its various activities in awareness, consultation, and training. This strategy focused on three key elements: volunteering, sustainability, and partnership, reflecting the association’s vision and aspiration to be a leading reference in serving the community and specialists in the field of information security. The strategy was developed after a series of workshops attended by more than one hundred Saudi specialists in information security and cybersecurity, in consultation with several partner organizations in the field. It was also informed by an extensive study of civil society regulations governing the work of the association.

Objectives

The association aims to promote several strategic objectives, including providing specialized courses and awareness programs in the field of information security; offering advisory services in information security to various sectors; establishing sustainable partnerships with the government and private sectors and supporting the efforts of information security-related authorities; and activating and empowering the role of volunteers in the field of information security to increase their contribution.

Initiatives

The Information Security Association has worked to activate its role in the community by implementing several initiatives, including the Cybersecurity Mentorship Program Initiative, the Cybersecurity Recommendations Initiative, the Cybersecurity Protection Riddles Initiative, the Information Security Support Initiative for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the Professional Certification Initiative, and the University Directory Initiative, in addition to qualitative initiatives such as the “Be Protected” initiative for children and youth.

Services

The Information Security Association provides a range of services that contribute to enhancing cybersecurity-related work, including training and awareness, cybersecurity assurance, cybersecurity consulting, and governance and cybersecurity risk management.

Cybersecurity communities

The Information Security Association includes in its membership several specialized members who work within various cybersecurity communities under the umbrella of the association, such as: the Hemaya GRC community, focused on governance, risk, and compliance specialists; the Hemaya HAT community, which analyzes and studies cyber incidents and attacks and shares them with the relevant community; the Main community, a core group consisting of founding members and a number of executives and leaders in the field of information security; the Cyber Ladies community, which focuses on empowering women in cybersecurity; and the Hemaya Academics community, a subgroup that discusses topics with an academic and scientific perspective.
