The Housing Data and Observatory Center (HDOC) is the main reference for everything related to population monitoring operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in 2018 and tasked with monitoring, analyzing, and studying the housing sector, in addition to following up on the variables affecting this sector.

The center publishes a list of indicators to assist legislators and regulators in making the necessary decisions to balance supply and demand and ensure the sector's development.

Objectives of the Housing Data and Observatory Center

The Housing Data and Observatory Center seeks to monitor the reality and variables of the housing market upon establishing a housing database, analyzing and studying the impact and contribution of the housing market to the national economy, and stimulating the housing market's investment and growth upon providing data and indicators that reflect the reality of supply and demand.
It also seeks to elaborate housing forecasting models in cooperation with the competent authorities, ultimately supporting decision-making and policy development, attracting Saudi competencies and training Saudis, analyzing the capabilities of real estate developers and the ability to establish housing locations, and enhancing transparency and awareness related to housing market indicators and data.

Tasks and activities of the Housing Data and Observatory Center

The Housing Data and Observatory Center deploys efforts in favor of carrying out several tasks, including supporting housing policies upon conducting the necessary studies, monitoring the challenges facing the housing sector and examining relevant solutions, drafting and publishing housing studies reports, and leveraging international expertise in favor of elaborating appropriate mechanisms in accordance with the situation of the housing sector in Saudi Arabia. 
It also seeks to establish a comprehensive database on housing based on the administrative records kept by the competent authorities. It aims to enhance the database by equipping them with geographic information systems and assessing government and private programs to address the challenges facing the housing sector.

The center publishes a periodic housing bulletin that covers the latest developments related to the housing and real estate finance sector in Saudi Arabia.
