Balady Portal
Balady Portal is an electronic platform affiliated with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It consolidates a number of services that previously required in-person visits to the ministry’s offices or to the secretariats and municipalities in cities and governorates across Saudi Arabia. The portal is part of the digital automation introduced by the ministry to improve the beneficiary experience, enhance its related services, and facilitate the execution of transactions.
Objectives of Balady Portal
Balady Portal aims to improve beneficiary satisfaction, enhance the level and quality of services, involve beneficiaries in governmental work, and increase transparency among the entities responsible for providing municipal sector services in general.
Main services of Balady Portal
Balady Portal includes a number of entities affiliated with the sector and provides electronic services for the most requested transactions by beneficiaries, including: permit issuance services, transaction inquiries, merging and subdivision services, craft license services, mobile store services, and informational services that assist in decision-making. The portal also aims to improve customer satisfaction with the services provided by the sector.
Several sectors participated in the establishment and development of the Balady Portal, making it a supportive platform for the municipal sector. It began with three main services: informational support to help anticipate the future of certain activities and their updates; electronic services that reduce processing times and ease congestion for both beneficiaries and service providers; and interactive services aimed at establishing concepts of community partnership and enhancing the quality of services provided by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing.
Additional services provided by Balady Portal
In addition to its main services, Balady Portal offers a range of services related to commercial licenses, construction licenses, health certificates, electronic authorizations, appointment booking, occupancy of accommodation facilities, the tobacco product offering fee platform, university housing permits, as well as services for facility qualification, inspection systems, customer service, and engineering offices.
Balady Portal achievements
In 2021, the number of Balady Portal users reached 1.8 million, through 124 services that met more than 80 percent of the digital needs of municipal sector clients. The portal also contributed to the issuance of approximately 115,000 commercial permits for various activities and more than 88,000 construction permits.
