Northern Border University is a public university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established in 2007 during a visit by King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to the Northern Border Region. It is one of fourteen public universities founded during his reign and is the only university of its kind within the Northern Border Province. The main campus of the university is located in Arar. It has three branches distributed across the governorates of Rafha, Turayf, and al-Uwayqilah. The university accommodates 16,415 male and female students, with 1,119 faculty members and 697 staff members. The number of graduates has reached 23,871, according to the statistics published on the university's website in July 2023.
History of Northern Border University
The junior college for girls is the core of Northern Borders University, established in 1981. It was later transformed into a Teacher's College. In 2005, the College of Sciences in Arar and the Community College were established in Rafha, all of which later became under the umbrella of the Northern Borders University, in addition to other colleges.
Faculties of Northern Borders University
Northern Border University consists of a total of thirteen colleges; nine of them are located in Arar. These include the colleges of Medicine, Business Administration, Home Economics, Education and Arts, Nursing, Sciences, Applied Medical Sciences, Engineering, and the Applied College. In Rafha's branch, there are three colleges, Computers and Information Technology, Pharmacy, and Sciences and Arts, and one college in Turayf Governorate's branch, which is the College of Sciences and Arts. Meanwhile, al-Uwayqilah Governorate's branch includes departments of Computer Sciences, Chemistry, and English Language.
Scientific Journal of the North
The university publishes "Scientific Journal of the North" in its two branches: "North Journal for Humanities" and "North Journal for Basic and Applied Sciences". It's a periodic, peer-reviewed scientific journal issued by the Scientific Publishing Center across the university. It's dedicated to publishing original studies and sciences in Arabic and English.
