Najran University is a Saudi public university and one of the seventeen universities established during the reign of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. It is located in Najran, southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Najran University was established on November 1, 2006. It is located in the eastern part of Najran, covering an area of eighteen million m. As such, it is the largest university campus in the Kingdom. It includes buildings and green spaces, a medical city, a recreational sports city, an investment city, and various other facilities.
Colleges of Najran University
Najran University comprises fourteen colleges offering approximately seventy-four specializations. It also includes eleven deanships and research centers, with a capacity of forty-five thousand male and female students.
The regulations for undergraduate studies and examinations, the financial affairs of universities, scholarship and training regulations for university staff, the unified regulations for postgraduate studies in universities, and the regulations governing scientific societies in universities all govern the mechanisms of operation within the university. These regulations are derived from the Statute of the Higher Education and Universities Council.
Najran University aims to advance its academic programs, raise the efficiency of faculty members, and excel in serving students while developing the scientific research ecosystem. The university, represented by the Center for Nano and Advanced Materials Research, won the COMSTECH Award for Best Chemical Research in 2019.
Najran University Entry Into the Times Higher Education World University Rankings
For the first time, Najran University has succeeded in entering the Times Higher Education World University in the field of impact and sustainability in 2023 after obtaining a distinguished ranking among more than 1600 global universities that applied for the ranking. The university has made significant progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. It participated in four key criteria of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and succeeded in achieving an advanced ranking in the areas of health, well-being, quality education, women's empowerment, and community partnership.
In 2022, Najran University achieved advanced ranks in the World Rankings Scimago, where it ranked fourteenth among Saudi universities, forty-sixth among Arab universities, ninetieth among universities in the Middle East, and 528th globally. In scientific specializations, the university ranked third in the Kingdom, seventh in the Arab world, and 225th globally in the specialization of Earth and Planetary Sciences. In physics, it ranked sixth in the Kingdom, twenty-third in the Arab world, and 426th globally. For social sciences, it ranked fourth in the Kingdom, thirteenth in the Arab world, and 607th globally.
