His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Bin Faisal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, known as Khalid al-Faisal (born in 1940), is Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Governor of Makkah al-Mukarramah Province, and Chairman of the Central Hajj Committee. 

He is the ninth prince to be in charge of the Emirate of Makkah Province, and the first prince to be appointed twice. He was separated from the Ministry of Education's portfolio and the last minister to be named Minister of Education.

The life of Prince Khalid al-Faisa

Prince Khalid al-Faisal was born in Makkah al-Mukarramah, the third son of King Faisal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the third king of Saudi Arabia, and one of his brothers: Prince Saud al-Faisal, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Abdullah al-Faisal, and Prince Turki al-Faisal, the former head of the General Intelligence Service.

He studied the Holy Qur'an and the first and second years of primary school at the Princes' School in al-Ahsa Governorate. He then attended the model school in Taif Governorate until he completed his secondary education and graduated in 1957. His Highness then attended HUN School in New Jersey near New York. He spent 4 years in it. He then attended Princeton Schools and obtained the American Secondary Diploma in 1961. He completed his university education with a bachelor's degree in political and economic sciences from the University of Oxford in 1966.

Career

The first position assumed by Prince Khalid al-Faisal was the Director of Youth Care in 1967 (currently the Ministry of Sport). After that, the Emirate of Aseer Province took approximately 37 years from 1971 until 2007. After that, a Royal Order was issued to appoint him as the Governor of Makkah al-Mukarramah Province. Six years later, he was appointed Minister of Education (currently the Ministry of Education). He remained in the position for about a year until the issuance of the Royal Decree on January 29, 2015, to be reappointed as the prince of Makkah al-Mukarramah Province.

The Title of Prince Khalid al-Faisal

Prince Khalid al-Faisal holds the title of Daim al-Saif, a writer, poet, and artist who has several books, diverse poetic and cultural contributions, and several art exhibitions. He established the Abha Literary Award and supervised the establishment of the Abha Literary Club, founded the Arab Thought Foundation, and Al Faisal Magazine. He also contributed to the establishment of the King Faisal International Award.

Prince Khalid al-Faisal is the owner of the first cultural literary forum in Riyadh. Positions

Prince Khalid al-Faisal is the Director General of King Faisal Charitable Foundation, one of its founders, the Chairman of the King Faisal International Award, the Chairman of the Arab Thought Foundation and its Chairman, the Vice President of King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, and Vice President of the Higher Hajj Committee and Chairman of the Central Hajj Committee.

Awards

Prince Khalid al-Faisal received several awards and honors, as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and the Grand Cordon of King Abdulaziz in 2019. In 2001, he received the Villa Vicusa Medal in the Great Rank, Order of Francis I in the Great Rank, and the Order of Saint Maurice and Sint Lazarus in the Great Rank. In 1999, he received the Order of the Royal Renaissance of First Class from Jordan.

He was also awarded the Medal of Leadership for Youth Day from the Fourth Gulf Conference for Human Resources Management in 1970.
