University of Bishah is a Saudi public university located in Bishah Governorate, Aseer Province, southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established in 2014. It is one of the fourteen universities established during the reign of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and one of the three Saudi universities established by a single Royal Decree, along with the University of Hafr al-Batin and Jeddah University.
University of Bishah began as a teacher training college in 1987. It later developed into a College of Teachers in 1992. It subsequently joined King Khalid University. In 2003, a Community College was established, followed by a College of Arts and Humanities four years later. In 2010, a branch of King Khalid University was established in the Bishah Governorate. A year later, orders were issued to establish the Colleges of Medicine and Engineering. After three years, the university became independent under the name Bishah University.
The main campus of the University of Bishah is located in al-Nakheel District, adjacent to King Abdullah Hospital. It is approximately six km away from Bishah Airport. The university campus includes buildings for colleges, administrative offices, deanships, parking areas, and green spaces.
Colleges of the University of Bishah
The University of Bishah comprises fifteen colleges offering approximately 186 academic programs. Among its colleges are the College of Education, College of Medicine, College of Business, College of Science, College of Computing and Information Technology, and College of Applied Sciences. These colleges are distributed across the university's branches in the governorates of Bishah, Balqarn, an-Namas, and Tathlith. The university has around 17,562 male and female students and 525 faculty members across various scientific disciplines, according to the 2020 statistics.
