King Abdulaziz Palace in al-Maabdah

King Abdulaziz Palace in al-Maabadah is a historic palace located in the city of Makkah al-Mukarramah. The palace was inhabited by the Founding King, Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, during the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and it served as the headquarters for the governance and administration of citizens' affairs. It was built in 1927, and it is constructed of clay and stones on an area of approximately 2,500 m2.

Al-Maabda Palace is a royal palace from which the affairs of the state were managed during the reign of King Abdulaziz and continued its activity during the reign of King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and King Faisal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The palace went through several stages before turning into a historical landmark. Initially, it served as an official residence for hosting state guests during the era of the founder and was later used as the headquarters for the Muslim World League. Subsequently, it became the headquarters for the Makkah Police, and in a later period, the western part of the palace was used as the Ministry of Finance headquarters.

The palace is a pioneering model in the Islamic architectural style in Makkah al-Mukarramah; its facades are adorned with Islamic decorations and engravings. It is part of a series of palaces, including al-Bayadiyah Palace and al-Saqqaf Palace, which were developed and reconstructed as part of a comprehensive complex for the new royal palace. The palace gained widespread fame when it became the residence of King Abdulaziz and the seat of governance in Makkah al-Mukarramah. It also served as the royal court during his reign and underwent additions that connected its northern and southern palaces.

Al-Maabadah Palace, also known as al-Saqqaf Palace, as al-Saqaf Palace was one of the palaces that were initially bought and added to, is directly associated with the historical events during the phase of unifying and constructing the country under the reign of King Abdulaziz. It served as a venue where King Abdulaziz received dignitaries and citizens in Makkah al-Mukarramah.
