The Historic Jeddah Festival is an entertaining event held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It aims to transport visitors through time by showcasing different historical eras that Jeddah has gone through, bringing to life its people and places. On January 16, 2014, the festival began with a focus on highlighting Jeddah's importance as the gateway to the two holy mosques and a center for diverse cultures.
The second edition of the Historic Jeddah Festival, titled "Your Sun Has Risen," was organized by the Higher Committee of Historic Jeddah Festival on January 14, 2015. This edition featured more than 89 events that highlighted Jeddah's rich heritage, cultural significance, and marketing potential. These events played a vital role in promoting the Historic Jeddah Project, which has been listed as a global city with historical artifacts dating back over 2600 years.
Objectives of the Historic Jeddah Festival
The objectives of the festival include enhancing the Kingdom's status as a source of Arab and Islamic culture, literature, and history, preserving heritage landmarks and cultural treasures, bridging the rich past with the present, providing an opportunity for visitors to connect with the tales of the past century in Jeddah, and introducing the new generation to the history, customs, traditions, and heritage of this region.
The third version of the Historic Jeddah Festival
On June 8, 2016, the third edition of the Historic Jeddah Festival "That's our Ramadan 3" was organized at two different locations in the historic area. A new section called "This's what we used to be" was added, featuring buildings that blend with the nature and heritage of old Jeddah, designed in the traditional Hijazi style, along with other diverse events on the festival's program.
The fourth edition of the Historic Jeddah Festival
The fourth edition of the festival, titled "Atarik," which means "lanterns that light and spread life in cities," commenced on March 29, 2017. "Atarik" is historically a symbol of joy and celebration in the Hijazi culture. As part of the festival's new approach, the logo and slogan change every year.
The fourth edition witnessed the construction of the historical dome as one of the main events hosted by the festival, among a total of sixty-five activities. The dome showcased the rich history of Jeddah City, spanning 2600 years, through a captivating visual presentation that turned the site into a massive 360-degree projection screen. The presentation showed the tale of Jeddah's founding and its significant historical epochs, culminating in its conquering by the founding king, Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud.
On the occasion of the Kingdom's eighty-eighth National Day, Jeddah's historical area witnessed the "Our History is Misk" event on September 20, 2018. The event was launched by Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk) and featured twenty-two activities that seamlessly combined culture, knowledge, and entertainment in a visually immersive environment. The event harmoniously blended the essence of heritage with art and technology.

From May 14th to May 20th, 2019, the Misk Jeddah Historic Festival kept the cultural and entertainment events going in the historical city. The festival aimed to highlight the significance of the historic area and encourage its preservation, transforming it into a permanent attraction for the residents and visitors of Jeddah. The festival aimed to showcase the wonderful lives Saudi ancestors lived in this city, which is steeped in values and traditions, to the current generation. It featured engaging and enjoyable environments that appealed to people of all ages and backgrounds.
