Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Faisal Al Saud (1877–1943) was a son of Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal, the last ruler of the Second Saudi State, and the brother of the Founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud. He took part alongside the Founding King in several campaigns and battles for the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, some of which he was entrusted by King Abdulaziz to lead.

Life of Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud

Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud was born in Riyadh, where he studied the basics of reading and writing and memorized portions of the Holy Qur’an. He was with his family when Imam Abdulrahman left Riyadh and moved to Kuwait in 1890.

He was known for his courage, kindness, and good character, as well as his strong commitment to performing religious duties. He was also known for his hobbies of hunting, farming, and raising horses and camels.

Participation of Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud

Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud accompanied his brother, King Abdulaziz, in his first attempt to recapture Riyadh in 1901 during the Battle of Al-Sarif. He also joined him when he set out from Kuwait to recapture Riyadh in 1901–1902. King Abdulaziz entrusted him with leading the supporting group that remained outside Riyadh’s walls, consisting of thirty-three men. On the night of May 14, 1902, King Abdulaziz positioned them in a garden near the Dhuhairah Gate. After entering Riyadh, King Abdulaziz summoned Prince Mohammed and his men to take part in storming Al-Masmak Palace upon discovering that Ibn Ajlan, Ibn Rashid’s governor, was staying there.

Positions held by Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud

Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud took part in the state-building process. After the entry of Makkah al-Mukarramah, King Abdulaziz appointed him as its governor, a position he held until 1926 when Prince Faisal Bin Abdulaziz was named the King’s deputy in Hejaz. King Abdulaziz then called him back to Riyadh to serve as his advisor on state affairs.

Death of Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Faisal Al Saud

Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud passed away in Riyadh in 1943.
