Prince Mohammed Bin Salman arrived in the United States of America for an official visit. During his visit, he sponsored the signing ceremony of an agreement aimed at establishing a joint venture to localize more than 55 percent of the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of military aircraft in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the agreement involved the transfer of weapons integration technology for those aircraft and the localization of the supply chain for spare parts within Saudi Arabia. This aimed to support the realization of Saudi Vision 2030 and Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's commitment to localize 50 percent of military spending by 2030. The agreement was signed between the Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) and Boeing.
During his visit, the Crown Prince met with Saudi engineers from King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) who collaborated with American Lockheed Martin engineers in constructing the first Saudi satellite (SGS-1) at the company's headquarters in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, USA. He signed the first Saudi satellite with the phrase ‘Above the clouds.’ Saudi Arabia, represented by KACST, announced the satellite's launch on February 5, 2019, from the French Guiana Space Center aboard the Ariane 5 rocket.
