Language Immersion Program

The Language Immersion Program is a project launched by the King Salman Global Center for the Arabic Language (KSAA) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2023. It aims to equip Arabic language learners with linguistic skills through language immersion. The program supports the objectives of the Human Capability Development Program, one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030, and focuses on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, enhancing its status, promoting Saudi culture, and spreading its content.

The Language Immersion Program aims to develop and enhance the communicative skills of learners by immersing them in Saudi society, learning about its heritage, culture, and customs, and practicing the Arabic language in its authentic environment and cultural context. The program also seeks to foster collaboration with international bodies through cultural and linguistic programs to support and promote the Arabic language and ensure its care.

The Language Immersion Program offers several training tracks, including the Arabic for Tourism Purposes track, a short-term program targeting non-Arab tourists visiting Saudi Arabia. It aims to teach them Arabic and aspects of Saudi culture during their visits, through immersive activities and a cultural experience rich in Saudi traditions and customs. The program seeks to enhance participants' language abilities and improve their communication skills by integrating them into the local community and training them to communicate in the local dialect. Another track is Arabic for Cultural Purposes, a linguistic school that focuses on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers through immersion in an educational environment. This track targets international students who have learned Arabic as a second language at universities and global language centers, as well as researchers and media professionals interested in learning the language in its native cultural and social context.

The program's study duration is eight weeks, with participants from thirty-four countries around the world. The lessons are conducted in person, with a daily duration of four hours. Participants receive a certificate of completion upon finishing the track.

The Language Immersion Program includes a variety of short social and cultural activities that enhance the educational process, such as participating in Saudi National Day events, organizing Umrah trips for Muslim participants, and arranging various visits to cultural and economic landmarks in Saudi Arabia, such as King Abdullah Economic City and Historic Jeddah. Additionally, the program includes accompanying trips for both the "cultural" and "tourism" tracks, which involve participating in the host family program and traveling to several regions of Saudi Arabia to learn about the traditions and customs of those areas and explore the linguistic context associated with them.
