Saad Bin Nasser Al-Shathri is an advisor at the Royal Court, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a member of the Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas. He studied under the former Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Bin Baz, and its current chairman, Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al Sheikh.

Life of Saad Al-Shathri

Saad Al-Shathri comes from a family dedicated to Islamic scholarship, which influenced his pursuit of religious studies from an early age. He was endorsed by several prominent scholars, including Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymeen, for his dedication to Islamic jurisprudence and knowledge.

He completed his undergraduate studies at the College of Sharia at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, where he later became a teaching assistant. He continued his academic journey, earning a master’s degree with a thesis titled "Distinguishing Between Fundamentals and Branches." He later obtained a PhD in 1997 with a dissertation titled "Certainty and Speculation in the Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence."

Saad Al-Shathri’s teachers and mentors

In addition to formal education, Saad Al-Shathri gained Islamic knowledge from several scholars who greatly influenced him, including Abdulaziz Bin Baz, Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, Saleh Al-Atram, Ahmed Al-Mubaraki, Abdullah Bin Ghadyaan, and his father, Nasser Al-Shathri. He also received several scholarly authorizations (Ijazah) in narrating books of Sunnah and Hadith.

Saad Al-Shathri’s career beginnings

Saad Al-Shathri’s professional and academic career went through several stages. He began as a teaching assistant at the College of Sharia at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh in 1989. In 1994, he became a lecturer at the same college, and by 1998, he was appointed as an assistant professor. He later advanced to the rank of associate professor in 2001.

In 2005, he was appointed as a member of the Council of Senior Scholars at the Excellent Grade until 2010. In 2013, he joined the faculty of law and political science at King Saud University. In 2016, he was appointed as an advisor to the Royal Court with the rank of minister, and in 2020, his name was included in the formation of the Council of Senior Scholars.

Saad Al-Shathri’s scholarly contributions

Saad Al-Shathri has made significant contributions to authorship and research, in addition to conducting scientific courses, lectures, and seminars. His works include sixty-five books and more than fifteen published research papers in various academic journals. He has also participated in numerous local and international conferences.
