Mawqaq Governorate is one of the governorates of Hail Province, located in the north-central part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is home to 2.3 percent of the province’s population, with an estimated 16,835 residents, according to the Saudi Census 2022 issued by the General Authority for Statistics.

Location of Mawqaq Governorate

Mawqaq Governorate is located northwest of Hail Province, approximately seventy km from the emirate’s headquarters. It is bordered to the north and east by Hail City, to the south by al-Ghazalah and ash-Shamli Governorates, and to the west by al-Madinah al-Munawwarah and Tabuk Provinces. It is classified as a Category (B) governorate and comprises eight centers.

Transportation services in Mawqaq Governorate

Mawqaq Governorate is served by Hail Airport, the nearest airport to the governorate, located about seventy km from the city center. It is an international airport with a capacity of around five hundred thousand passengers annually.

Road Seventy is the primary land transportation hub in the city, providing access to the governorate and connecting it to nearby major cities. Its route begins in AlUla Governorate in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province to the west and ends at the intersection with Road Sixty-five in Hail City.
