Defense Magazine

Defense Magazine is a military media platform affiliated with the Ministry of Defense in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was launched in 1962 and its first issue was published under the name 'Saudi Arabian Army Magazine'. As one of the earliest Arab military magazines, it features cultural and military content in its articles and topics. Defense Magazine is the first magazine to be issued by a Royal Decree from the Council of Ministers in Saudi Arabia.

In its early years, Defense Magazine was printed at al-Asfahani Printing Press in Jeddah City, with its titles handwritten. Even the illustrations accompanying articles and topics were drawn manually by artists. Over time, the magazine went through various stages of development, eventually adopting computer technology for its production.

Defense Magazine serves as a historical record documenting significant Arab military events. It has closely followed the developments and milestones of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces from the era of the Founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, to the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. It is also regarded as a reliable reference for researchers, providing a credible source of military information.

Defense Magazine is published quarterly in both print and digital editions. It covers news and activities of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, highlights national, military, and humanitarian achievements, and publishes reports, research, and specialized studies in military and defense sectors. Additionally, the magazine provides content focused on strategic military affairs.

To keep pace with digital advancements, Defense Magazine has launched its own website and mobile application. It has also digitized its previously printed editions, making them accessible in an interactive electronic format. This facilitates searching, copying, saving, and accessing content, thereby strengthening its presence on digital platforms.
