His Royal Highness Prince Mishaal Bin Saud (born in 1959) has been the Governor of Qassim Province since January 29, 2015, succeeding Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Life of Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal

Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal was born in Riyadh City. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Political Sciences from King Saud University (KSU) in the capital, Riyadh, in 1982. He also obtained a master's degree in Political Science from California State University, Chico, in the United States in 1988. Furthermore, he earned a Ph.D. in the same field from Durham University in the United Kingdom in 2000, with a thesis delving into the political development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Early career of Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal

After graduating from KSU in 1982, Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal joined the ‏Ministry of Defense‏ (previously Ministry of Defense and Aviation), where he worked in the Department of Foreign Assistance. He later moved on to work in the Intelligence and Security Agency of the Armed Forces. He was then appointed as a consultant in the office of the Second Deputy of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense and Aviation (at the time). In 2006, a Royal Decree appointed him Deputy Governor of Qassim Province. In 2015, a Royal Order was issued designating him as the Governor of Qassim Province with the rank of Minister.

Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal created several initiatives in developmental, educational, cultural, and social fields, including establishing the Faisal Bin Mishaal Bin Saud Bin Abdulaziz Community Foundation (Mojtamae), Shaqaeq al-Rijal Award, Qassim Excellence Award, Digital Content Creation for Social Media Award, Qassim Youth Council, Qassim Girls Council, Green Cities Initiative (to preserve the green cover of cities), including Qassim Regional Museum, and the Treating Visual Distortion Through Visual Arts Initiative.

Publications of Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal

Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal published several writings in various languages, including the Open Councils and the Islamic Concept of Governance in the Kingdom's Policy in 2000, presented by the Custodian of the Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, when he was Governor of Riyadh Province, which was later translated into English. He also published the Political Development in the Kingdom and an Assessment for the Shura Council in 2000.

Furthermore, Prince Faisal published al-Aman al-Thani (Second Safeguard) in 2004, which was translated into several languages. In 2006, he released the Islamic Diplomacy and Ceremonies, also translated into many languages. Additionally, he wrote a book including some of King Saud Bin Abdulaziz's Messages and Unifying Prayer's Imams in the Two Grand Mosques in 2019, Al Saud Righteous Martyrs in the Founding, Unification, and Defense Wars in 2021.

Awards and memberships of Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal

Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal received medals and awards from cultural and scientific entities, locally and internationally, namely the Leadership Excellence and Distinction Award in 2018 from the Global Knowledge Exchange Organization, and the Medal of Wisdom from the World Wisdom Initiative, affiliated with the United Nations for his numerous initiatives.

He is a member of numerous organizations and associations, including a founding membership of the International Organization of Supporters of the Prophet, an honorary membership in Tbeian for Quranic Studies, an honorary membership of the Saudi Library and Information Association, and memberships of the Global Commission for Memorizing the Holy Quran in the Muslim World League.
