Mohammed Bin Rotayyan al-Shammari is a Saudi writer, journalist, and poet. He published articles, short stories, and colloquial poems in several local and Arab newspapers and magazines. He spent his childhood in the State of Kuwait, where he went to primary school. He began publishing in the Saudi and Gulf press in 1992.

Professional career

He covered several literary genres, including short stories, essays, and colloquial poems. He shared his writings in a number of Arab newspapers and publications. Moreover, he publishes a weekly article in several local and Arab newspapers. He also held several poetry evenings and represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Eighth Middle Eastern Festival for Poetry and Fiction.

Writings

His writings include: 'Book!' published in 2008, 'A Third Try' in 2011, ‘Commandments’ in 2012, with forty editions printed within two years, 'Songs of the Blue Bird' in 2014, and 'Calendar' in 2017.

Awards

He won a number of awards throughout his career, including the Prince Saud Bin Abdulmohsen Award in its first session in 2009, presented by the Hail Literary Club for his novel 'What’s Left of Mohammad al-Touban’s Papers'.

In 2011, he was included in Forbes magazine as one of the one hundred most influential Arabs, and was granted the Arab Excellence Award at the Arab Media Forum in Kuwait in 2015. In 2023, he won the Qualitative Content Award as part of the Saudi Media Forum Awards in its second edition.
