What Is Meant by the Saudi Building Code?

The Saudi Building Code refers to a set of conditions and requirements derived from building and construction laws, executive regulations, and annexes aimed at ensuring safety and public health. It is one of the laws tackling the quality of construction in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Given the geographical diversity of the Kingdom's territories, the Saudi Building Code represents an integrated and comprehensive engineering safety assurance. It aims to increase quality standards in structures by setting conditions that outline proper study principles and appropriate methods based on the country's circumstances and capabilities, using the code and applying its rules as a nationally recognized law.
The Implementing Regulations of the Saudi Building Code were promulgated by Royal Decree on January 24, 2017. The gradual implementation of the Saudi Building Code comprised five phases, with the last phase starting in July 2022.
