The Bishah Chamber, or BishahChamber of Commerce, is a non-profit service organization aimed at developing various commercial activities within the commercial sectors of Bishah Governorate. It represents these sectors to ministries, public bodies, and institutions, working to protect and develop them. The chamber is one of the chambers of commerce and industry in Aseer Province in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is headquartered in Bishah Governorate, and it is a member of the Federation of Saudi Chambers.

Establishment of the Bishah Chamber

To elevate the economic and investment level, the Bishah Chamber was established in 2008. It has a legal personality, along with financial and administrative independence, affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce. It comprises a general assembly, a board of directors, and a general secretariat.

The chamber provides support to business owners, builds partnerships to develop human resources, and creates an investment-friendly work environment. It also supports women's participation in the workforce by assisting home-based businesses and offering training to women and young women, preparing them for the job market.

The chamber also studies investment opportunities in the province, organizes forums and events, showcases investment opportunities to businessmen, and supports small and medium-sized enterprises.

Organizational structure of the Bishah Chamber

The Bishah Chamber has a Board of Directors formed every four years. The board's members are appointed by a decision from the Minister of Commerce. The number of members must not exceed eighteen, and no more than one member may be elected to represent a single commercial establishment. Additionally, no member is entitled to run for more than two consecutive terms; a term is considered complete if it exceeds two years.

The board meets at least once every two months (sixty days) upon the invitation of the chairman, with the possibility of holding an emergency meeting at any time if necessary. The invitation should include the meeting's agenda.

Bishah Chamber's Board of Directors is responsible for approving its general policies and developing plans, programs, and projects to support its functions. The board also reviews drafts of administrative and financial regulations, employee-related policies, governance frameworks, and training and scholarship guidelines and submits them to the General Assembly for approval.

The board also manages the chamber's fixed and movable assets, represents it in lease agreements, litigation, borrowing, and accepting donations, and oversees its performance and quarterly reports. It reviews the annual report, final accounts, and proposed budget for approval before submitting them to the General Assembly for endorsement and providing the Ministry of Commerce with copies of all of these documents.

The Board of Directors is responsible for appointing and terminating the services of the Secretary-General of the chamber, forming sectoral and internal committees, and delegating them as deemed appropriate.

Developing the business system at the Bishah Chamber

In an effort to enhance performance and cover the economic activities in the governorate, the Bishah Chamber established the Medium and Small Enterprises Committee and the Youth Business Committee in 2016.

In line with technological transformations and to facilitate the chamber's services and simplify procedures for its members, including businesspeople and beneficiaries of its programs and activities, totaling 6,742 members, the Bishah Chamber launched several electronic services on its website in 2020. These services include electronic certification, the electronic business directory, membership certificate printing, verification of certificates issued by the training center, verification of authenticated documents, subscription renewal service, and membership number inquiry service.
