Maghateer camels can be found in a variety of colors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They are known for four color shades distinguishing them from other camel breeds. These shades are known as follows:
Al-Wadha camels: These are bright white camels. Bedouins consider them as one the most valuable and prestigious Maghateer camels.
Al-Shaqhaa camels: These camels have a darker white color than that of al-Wadha camels. This breed rarely forms a single herd. It is often mixed with Wadha camels and is known for their shade between the colors of al-Wadha and al-Shaala camels.
Al-Shaala camels: Inhabitants of the north of the Kingdom considered this category of camels as an individual breed. Camels belonging to this breed often form a single breed. They often have less hair than al-Wadha camels.
Al-Safra camels: These camels have long been found among the tribes inhabiting the north of the Kingdom. Their color is similar to yellowish or molasses-colored sand. Spotting them from afar is usually hard. Al-Safra camels are more able to travel and withstand drought than other camels.
