


The volcanic fields (harrat) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which contain volcanic craters on their surfaces, date back approximately thirty million years. They stretch from the south to the north of the Kingdom. Here is a list of the five deepest volcanic craters in the Kingdom:
Al-Wahbah Crater "Maqla’ Timiyyah"
A large crater with a lake inside, it has a diameter of two thousand m and a depth of 220 m. It is located in Harrat Kishb, approximately 250 km from Taif Governorate.
Hazm Khadra Crater
With a diameter of 750 m and a depth of 150 m, this crater is located in Harrat Thanan, between al-Madinah al-Munawwarah and Hail provinces.
Al-Hutaymah Crater
This crater has a diameter of 1,200 m and a depth of 130 m, situated in Harrat al-Hutaymah in Hail Province.
Darat al-Hamra Crater
With a diameter of 1,800 m and a depth of 120 m, it is located in Harrat al-Hutaymah.
Jibal al-Hayl Crater
This crater has a diameter of four hundred m and a depth of 110 m, located in Harrat Kishb.
