
Rashodia Dates is one of the varieties of dates produced in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, specifically in the central region. In fact, Saudi Arabia ranked first globally in date exports in terms of value, where exports amounted to SAR1.215 in 2021, accounting for 17 percent of the world's production. The annual date production volume amounts to 1.5 million t. The Kingdom houses thirty-one million date palm trees and around 157 date factories.
Nomenclature of the rashodia dates
Dates in Saudi Arabia are named per the variety's description. Hence, it is named according to its color, and taste, or after the person who discovered it. The description may also relate to the date palm status. Rashodia dates grow well in sandy clay soil, with an annual production volume of two hundred kg.
Rashodia date fruit
The rashodia date fruit takes a cylindrical, oblong shape and a yellowish-orange color. It is classified as a dry date. Hence, it is not suitable for storage and hoarding. It is also found in limited quantities. The rashodia date fruit ripens in summer, by the end of August.
