What Is the Second Product after Dates in Al-Ahsa?

Al-Hassawi lime, also known as "al-Lumi al-Hassawi," is the second agricultural product after dates in Al-Ahsa Governorate, located in the east of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The land of Al-Ahsa Oasis contains approximately one hundred thousand fruit-bearing lime trees, characterized by their fragrant aroma, dark green color, and smooth texture.
Al-Hassawi lime trees spread across an area exceeding 250,000 ha. The average yield per tree during the season ranges between twenty-five and thirty kg. Locally, it is referred to as "al-Laymoon al-Qateefi" and "Bin Zuhair."
The prices of "Al-Hassawi lime" range between SAR15 and SAR20 per kg. It is distinguished by its unique taste, strong aroma, and the ability to remain fresh for an extended period after being picked. Farmers in al-Ahsa use it in various culinary applications, as well as in processing industries. One notable product is "Al-Jameed," where the lime is sun-dried and aged before being stored in airtight glass jars. It is used in cooking and beverages throughout the year.
