
Yes, there are fishing ports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, established by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture as part of the initiative to develop fishing ports in six provinces. These include Khor Farasan Port, al-Madaya Port in Jazan Province with a capacity of 384 fishing boats, al-Qatif Port, az-Zour Port in the Eastern Province with a capacity of 556 small fishing boats and 192 large fishing boats, al-Aziziyah Port, and ar-Rayis Port in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah with a capacity of approximately 729 fishing boats.
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture is also working on establishing six additional fishing ports, including al-Lith Port in Makkah al-Mukarramah Province, al-Khobar Port in the Eastern Region, Ummlujj and al-Qad Ports in Tabuk Province, al-Mukhraf Port in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Province, and al-Qahmah Port in Aseer Province.
Additionally, there is the Fishermen's Port in ash-Shuqayq, located in Jazan Province, which was implemented by the Saudi Electricity Company in collaboration with the Fisheries Program under the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, with a capacity of approximately 120 fishing boats. There is also Darin Port in the Eastern Province, along with other fishing ports, including those in Manifa, as-Saffaniyah, and al-Jubayl.
The initiative to establish and develop fishing ports aims to increase the number of fishermen in the Kingdom, boost marine fisheries production, contribute to supporting national food security, enhance the quality of food products, provide approximately 1,220 job opportunities, and expand employment in facilities associated with fishing ports, such as cafes, restaurants, and resorts. It also focuses on providing recreational facilities and tourist centers for citizens and tourists in collaboration with the private sector.
