The Najran Regional Museum is one of the museums in Najran Province, south of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is located near al-Okhdood archaeological site in Najran City. The museum was built in 1983 and opened to visitors in 1987. It underwent a development project in 2015.

Area of Najran Regional Museum

The Najran Regional Museum spans a total area of 20,100 m². It is located in the northwestern corner of al-Okhdood archaeological site and is considered one of Najran’s modern landmarks. In front of the museum's entrance lies a 1,200 m promenade featuring investment spaces with kiosks selling souvenirs and artifacts. The building's design blends the historical and cultural heritage of the province with modern and distinctive touches. The museum showcases significant archaeological and heritage landmarks using modern exhibition methods, reflecting the local identity of the province.

Halls of Najran Regional Museum

The Najran Regional Museum contains five exhibition halls. The first hall serves as the entrance hall, featuring panels that display maps of archaeological sites in Najran Province, the network of museums in Saudi Arabia, photographs, and heritage exhibits.

Prehistoric Wing

The second hall, the Prehistoric Wing, presents texts and images detailing the beginnings of humankind, the formation of the Earth, its geological layers, and the Stone Ages. It also includes models of stone tools from prehistoric times and their locations in Najran Province.

Pre-Islamic Wing

The third hall, the Pre-Islamic Wing, covers the period following the Stone Ages up to the end of the pre-Islamic era. It displays stone tools, pottery pieces, and panels featuring inscriptions and rock carvings, along with texts and images narrating pre-Islamic periods, with a special focus on al-Okhdood archaeological site and its artifacts.

Islamic Period Wing

The Islamic Period Wing, which is the fourth hall, showcases the Islamic era starting from the Prophet's migration to al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, through the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and subsequent Islamic periods. It includes a variety of artifacts, along with panels featuring texts, images, diagrams, and rock inscriptions from this period.

Unification of Saudi Arabia Wing

The fifth hall, the Unification of Saudi Arabia Wing, narrates the story of the unification of Saudi Arabia and the history of the Saudi state through all its phases in the province. It also displays old photographs of the province and exhibits of traditional heritage.
