


Mosques in Old Riyadh City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, were renowned for their simple architecture and modest decoration. The following offers a list of ten ancient mosques in Riyadh.
The Main Mosque
Known as "Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Mosque," it is located north of Qasr Al-Hukm, at the center of Riyadh City. It was built during the reign of the founder of the Second Saudi State, Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud.
Al-Diwaniyah Mosque
It is located in Imam Abdulrahman Palace. A door to the mosque was later opened, enabling access from al-Thumairi Street. Prayers are still performed at the Mosque after it was rebuilt.
Al-Hillah Mosque
It became known since the reign of Imam Faisal Bin Turki. In 1902, it was rebuilt and all five prayers are still performed at the Mosque.
Sheikh Abdullah Mosque (Dakhnah Grand Mosque)
It is located southwest of Dakhnah Neighborhood. It was subject to several renovations.
Sheikh Saleh Mosque (Dakhnah Small Mosque)
It is located northwest of Dakhnah Neighborhood. All five prayers are still performed at the Mosque.
Al-Dhahirah Mosque
It is located in al-Dhahirah Neighborhood. It was relocated to the side of Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Street, facing al-Masmak Fortress. It was renamed al-Shuwaier Mosque.
Al-Muʼaykaliyah Mosque
It is located in al-Muʼaykaliyah Neighborhood, in the vicinity of Al Suwailem Street. It was demolished and rebuilt in al-Mu'aykaliyah trade markets.
Al-Ataif Mosque
It is located on the northwestern side of al-Maigliah markets. It was demolished within the framework of Qasr Al-Hukm District Development, and a modern mosque was rebuilt as a replacement.
Khaled Mosque (Al-Sudra Mosque)
Located south of Qasr Al-Hukm wall, it was built on the remains of an ancient mosque. It was demolished in the 760s and rebuilt. In 1987, it was demolished within the framework of Qasr Al-Hukm District Development, and a modern mosque was rebuilt as a replacement west of Riyadh City.
Al-Jafrah Mosque
It is located in Eastern Hillah, southwest of Riyadh City. It was destroyed during the 770s and its traces have vanished.
