The founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Bin Faisal Bin Turki Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud. His father was Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal, the last ruler of the Second Saudi State. He was born in Riyadh on January 4, 1877, and passed away in Taif City on November 9, 1953. His body was transported to Riyadh, where he was buried in al-Oud Cemetery.
His father chose to move to Kuwait after the fall of the Second Saudi State, and being there fueled his determination to return to Riyadh and reclaim it. He received support from his father and from Sheikh Mubarak al-Sabah, the ruler of Kuwait. His first attempt to reclaim Riyadh was in 1901, followed by a successful second attempt in January of the following year, 1902.
On September 17, 1932, the founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud issued Royal Order No. 2716 to change the name of the state from the "Kingdom of Hejaz and Najd and its Annexes" to the "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," effective from September 23, 1932. Saudis celebrate this day each year as their national day.
