Immersive Digital Environments and Assets Initiative

The Immersive Digital Environments and Assets (I.D.E.A) Initiative is an initiative that contributes to establishing a modern ecosystem for immersive technologies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It aims to provide a range of spaces, interactions, experiences, and interactive features by launching a platform for immersive technologies that integrates augmented reality with virtual reality. The initiative was launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and NEOM Digital Technology Company "Tonomus" in May 2024.

The Immersive Digital Environments and Assets Initiative advances the immersive technology sector while supporting the growth of the digital economy in the Kingdom. It is part of ongoing efforts to achieve Saudi Vision 2030 and diversify the Kingdom’s economy.

The Immersive Digital Environments and Assets Initiative is supported by several partners, including the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the Digital Government Authority, and the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission.

The I.D.E.A Initiative contributes to integrating augmented reality with virtual reality, creating virtual collaboration spaces, and developing industrial digital twins. It also focuses on establishing metaverse applications supported by various emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, and spatial computing.

The I.D.E.A Initiative aims to establish and activate a national network of partners, develop a unified strategic plan, and implement initiatives to enable a regulatory environment across various aspects, such as policies, funding, and capabilities. Additionally, it seeks to design comprehensive solutions for technological advancements and contribute to the development of a program to stimulate local innovation.

The I.D.E.A Initiative encompasses several fields, including building a network of partners, establishing policies and frameworks for immersive technologies, developing national capabilities, and stimulating local innovation.

The Kingdom's goals in the field of immersive technologies include becoming a leader in immersive technologies and continuing to leverage technology to build a prosperous society and economy by fostering groundbreaking innovations.
